Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wisdom of our Fathers---- I loved it.
I loved all the different people's comments about their fathers, and what they passed down, and their love for us. Of course this isn't 100% of all dad's but thank goodness the overwhelming majority of them really do love us, and try to instill good values, and examples for us. I loved my dad, wish I could of told him some of the things I most admired about him. I know he knew I loved him, but after reading this book, I sure wish I could of told him some of the things.I would highly recommend the book.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - nice collection of letters
I really enjoyed reading many of these letters shared in response to "Big Russ and Me."

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I was moved by virtually every tale and I didn't realize how much I missed the late Tim Russert
I didn't realize how much I missed the late Tim Russert, who had
been moderator of MEET THE PRESS, until I heard him
narrate an excellent book he had written: WISDOM OF OUR FATHERS.

This was a follow-up to something his earlier bestseller, BIG RUSS
& ME, in which he described his father . . . shortly after it was
published, Russert began receiving an avalanche of letters from
daughters and sons who wanted to tell him out their own
fathers . . . most of the stories were about ordinary men
who were remembered for such things as their advice, tenderness,
strength, discipline and love.

I was moved by virtually every tale, though in particular, what
he had to say about his own role of father moved me most . . . he
called it:

* the best job I've ever had and [as part of it, he advised his son]
to study hard, laugh often and keep your honor.

Russsert also told of the time that he discovered that his son
had gotten a tattoo . . . he was not a happy camper,
until he discovered that it read:

* TJR [and was under his son Luke's arm] so he could have
his father and grandfather, who had the same initials, on
his side . . . Russert vowed never to again complain about
the tattoo.

Among the other statements that moved me were the
following:

* The most precious things a father can provide are time,
attention and love.

* Every moment that you spend with your child could be the one
that really matters.

* If you are a father, let your kids know in plain English that you love
them.

* 99% of parenting consists of just being there.

WISDOM OF OUR FATHERS will make the perfect gift for your father or grandfather if
you're lucky enough to have him around . . . or if not, you'll
find it a great way to remember somebody that is no
longer around--but you still think about often . . . I know it
had that effect on me.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - How-To for Fathers
This collection is so touching and gets to the core of what kids really need and want from their dads. The stories are not all sweetness and light but even the tough ones show a way through the darkness. I bought several copies and gave them as first-time Fathers Day gifts this year. Great book!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wonderful book
Loved reading this book. Great to read a book about a person who so loved his father and was loved by so many. Very, very good reading. Hard to put down!
