Product Description: Sleek & Trim Kindle DX is as thin as most magazines. Just over a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle DX fits perfectly in your hands. Beautiful Large Display Kindle DX's large display is ideal for a broad range of reading material, including graphic-rich books, PDFs, newspapers, magazines, and blogs. Kindle DX's display is two and a half times the size of the Kindle display. Whether you're reading the latest bestseller or a financial report, text and images are amazingly sharp on the 9.7" screen. Auto-Rotating Screen By simply turning the device, you can immediately see full-width landscape views of maps, graphs, tables and Web pages. Built-In PDF Reader Unload the loose documents from your briefcase or backpack, and put them all on Kindle DX. From neighborhood newsletters to financial statements to case studies and product manuals--you can take them all with you on Kindle DX. Native PDF support allows you to carry and read all of your personal and professional documents on the go. With Amazon's Whispernet service, you can send your documents directly to your Kindle DX and read them anytime, anywhere. 5-Way Controller Kindle DX has an easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words. Simple to Use, No Computer Required Kindle DX is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box--no setup, no cables, no computer required. Long Battery Life - Read for Days Without Recharging With Kindle DX's long battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly.

I have been using my Kindle DX for about six months and in general I am well satisfied with it. But I do have three things that I don't like about it and feel that if Kindle would change them, that it would be much more of a benefit to all users.
One, I do not like the use of locations instead of page numbers. I don't have a feel for locations, for example, if I was on page 900 of a book and wanted to use the "go to page function" to page 950, it would mean more to me than using the "go ... Read More

I have owned the 6 inch Kindle as well as the 9.7 inch Kindle. I read so many books that I am thoroughly enjoying not having to stockpile so many hard copy books. I loved the 6 inch Kindle, but since my eyes are older, I decided to try the larger size. The larger print, sharper pictures and the number of books that you can store on the Kindle DX are all pluses. I had gotten accustomed to the previous and next pages being on both sides on the 6 inch Kindle. It took me a while to get use to it being ... Read More

Technology is great, but some difficulty in reading with no back light. Limited with no color...Newspapers difficult...why not format paper and click to select article...based on what may be sold by Apple, they may have the better technology...Amazon is a great company, but may have #2 reader...will see...when Company called on back light issue, given the "old corporate talk", "easier on the eyes" not even "I'll pass it along", then the next month Apple rolled out the Pad...without these limitations...look ... I purchased the Kindle DX 9.7" as a Christmas Present for my wife. She thoroughly enjoys it - in fact, so do I. I like the large number of books/magazines/papers that I can purchase, and the speed of their delivery. S/H eas very good. My only complaint - the keyboard is too small. I think that if it would appear on the Kindle screen, it would be easier to use.

Slippery little raskal. Always afraid it will slide off the table. Could use more imaginative instructions. Like most consumer electronic devices, the authers of the instructions are devoid of ergonomics, clear thinking and the english language. You aren't alone. Everyone does it.
No problem reading my chosen tome, but look forward to wider array of older books. Long out of date, for instance, and semi porno stuff.
Non skid back should be easy, the Bathmat people hve the technology. ... Read More
