Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Jake the Snake is a rambunctious kindergartner who is always getting into mischief! And when that happens, he is sent to the “stupid time-out chair.” Jake the Snake is scared Santa Claus is watching and will bring a stupid lump of coal for Christmas ’cause Christmas isn’t far away! When Jake the Snake drowns his brother’s pet lizard in chocolate sauce, he is really afraid. But things only get worse when Jake the Snake goes to the mall to visit Santa and barfs in the mall elf’s hat! Will Jake the Snake get a stupid lump of coal for Christmas? Or will Santa forgive him for all the naughty things he’s done all year?

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Boys will be boys!
Ahhhh, life through the eyes of Jacob Sylvester Nelson. Or as his friends and family lovingly refer to him as "Jake The Snake". Well, Mr. Jake the Snake is an important five and three quarters years old. Don't forget, that three quarters is VERY important to a kindergartner!

Poor Jake. His intentions are always so well meaning, like attempting to do laundry and building a sandcastle out of laundry detergent to help his mom out. Or dangling from a chandelier like a monkey. Or trying to ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Delighful and Entertaining
Parents and children alike will love this book, since both can relate to Jake the Snake's kindergarten antics and to what it's like to be a kid. This really is a great story. Jake doesn't set out to be bad, but his adventures often go sour and he winds up in The Stupid Time-Out Chair. With Christmas approaching, it looks like Santa may pass Jake over because of his behavior. Will Santa be forgiving or will Jake wind up with a stupid lump of coal? Pick up a copy and find out. Cleverly written from Jake's ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - An amusing look at the life and thoughts of a five year old!
The whole of this story is written from the point of view of a boy called Jake the Snake, who is five and three-quarters (that 'three-quarters' is so important to young children, isn't it?) and the language used is the language you'll hear from a young child: "I made sure I was the bestest kid ever for the next three days," "'Cause I made my brother's lizard drowned in chocolate sauce" and "I ain't a rock collector" are just a few examples. This might not be to everyone's taste, but it does make for great ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Jake the Snake and the Stupid Time-Out Chair
I've had the pleasure of reading one of the newest children's books out Jake the Snake and the Stupid Time-Out Chair by Shelly Faith Nicholson. This is a fun story to read written in the voice of Jacob Sylvester Nelson affectionately refered to by his friends and family as Jake the Snake. A typical American boy five and three quarters years old, full of mischief and loaded with energy.

Regaurdless of his intentions everything he touches turns to distruction, from sandcastles made out of his mom's ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Funny book!
Jake the Snake and the Stupid Time-Out Chair is a hilarious and delightful book for early readers and parents. The author captures the voice of this kindergarten boy perfectly. Jake the Snake's oreneriness is likeable to Dennis the Menace. This funny, well illustrated book will have readers anticipating what the next chapter will bring. A must read for any child or parent.

My 2nd grade son doesn't really like to read, but he loved this book. And so did I! It's funny!
