Product Description: More and more people today have had a glimpse of genuine spiritual awakening, only to see it slip away after a few hours or days. Adyashanti calls this the "I got it/I lost it" phenomenon, and it perplexes many of his students. For those caught between what he calls "non-abiding" awakening and the ultimate state of "abiding" enlightenment, Adyashanti offers The End of Your World--an in-depth look at the remarkable yet enigmatic process of spiritual awakening. With straight talk and penetrating insight, Adyashanti helps readers navigate the pitfalls and cul-de-sacs that "un-enlighten" us along the journey, including: * The trap of meaninglessness * How the ego can "co-opt" realization for its own purposes * The illusion of superiority that may accompany intense spiritual breakthroughs * The danger of becoming "drunk on emptiness".
"I often ask people who come to me, `Are you ready to lose your world?'" explains Adyashanti, "Because true awakening will not fit into the world as you imagine it or the self you imagine yourself to be." Covering a range of topics ordinarily kept private between student and teacher, The End of Your World invites you to join Adyashanti for an honest investigation of what you really are--and how to live when you discover it.

This book's sub-title of "uncensored straight talk on the nature of enlightenment" really sets the tone for how this book is written. This is neither a fluffy head-in-the-clouds "believe it and you will be it" positive thinking mantra, nor is it never-within-reach "pie in the sky" theoretical idealisms. Adyashanti provides a ton of advice, insights, and lots of his own personal anecdotes on how his journey to spiritual awakening and enlightenment sputtered and faltered. As with any dynamically ... I only got to hear about Adyashanti recently, but to my mind he's the best of the current speakers on psychology and spirituality. This book was originally given as a series of talks, and yet there's nothing chatty about them -- they get straight to the point with amazing clarity. The chapter on having increased energy as we let go of agendas from the past I found especially informative. This book is only in hardcover but I felt it was worth it.

Awakening experiences are common, abiding in that place is not. This book is a guide to abiding in presence.
Adya explains what enlightenment is, simply and clearly, waking up from ego. Once you realize what you really are it is amazing, huge, and also totally natural, it always has been there; but one can easily forget and slip back into the ego/self/state.
Adyashanti talks about his own movement out of self, the subtle traps of the spiritual ego, the departure from ... Read More
