After reading all the great reviews and realizing I had a problem I needed to control, I was hoping this would be the answer. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I have read this book cover to cover and to me, all it centers around is willpower, which I lack or else I wouldn't have bought this book. We all know the cost and health issues of alcohol, no surprise here. We all know that alcohol does not solve our problems but only numbs them, has no real benefits, etc. I didn't need this book to know ... Read More

I have been drinking for over 30 years. Allen Carr discovered a way to help me see clearly again. I have been sober almost two months now. I don't do AA or take medication for it. My whole life has changed. My wife can't believe it. My kids can't believe it. My mother is shocked. My friends are dumbfounded. All of them are happy about it and my enthusiasm has been infectious. Great analogy's. Descriptive truth's. Remove's the brainwashing. I am having fun being sober, enjoying great sleep, ... Read More

Before I start this review, let me assure you that I have read this book cover to cover. I understood everything contained within its pages. Having said that, I do not believe that this book offers a lasting solution to alcoholism. I had faith throughout the book that there would be some kind of revelation revealed at the end, but I was very disappointed. In the end, it was nothing more than a well-thought out "willpower" method.
What the author seems to have failed to understand is that ... Read More

I was searching the internet looking for some ideas on how to cut down my drinking and came across this book. I'm pretty much like a lot of the people that have written reviews on this book here - I have not really gone off the deep end or anything (to me that means I have not had a DUI, lost my job, or had any major issues due to drinking). I just had a sense that I needed to slow down a bit - - I just needed to make some adjustments.
I picked up a copy from the library and read the book ... Read More

In 2008 around Christmas time I started thinking about quitting drinking. I was drinking 30-40 drinks a week on average, and the expense alone was starting to bother me. I ordered this book from Amazon and read it in about 5 days. It was very easy to understand, and the concepts about drinking alcohol as a societal practice (as opposed to a natural part of being an adult) were very compelling.
By the end of the book I was entirely convinced that I would not drink any more. It is hard to ... Read More
