Editorial Review:
Product Description: "Quite impressive. I doubt if there has been or will be a more deeply researched and convincing account." —Evan Connell, author Son of the Morning Star: Custer and the Little Bighorn
"The book to end all Earp books—the most complete, and most meticulously researched." —Jack Burrows, author John Ringo: The Gunfighter Who Never Was
"The most thoughtful, well-researched, and comprehensive account that has been written about the development and career of an Old-West lawman." —The Tombstone Tumbleweed
"A great adventure story, and solid history." —Kirkus Reviews
"A major contribution to the history of the American West. It provides the first complete and accurate look at Wyatt Earp's colorful career, and places into context the important role that he and his brothers played in crime and politics in the Arizona territory. This important book rises above the realm of Western biography and shows the development of the Earp story in history and myth, and its effect on American culture." —John Boessenecker, author Gold Dust and Gunsmoke
"The ultimate Wyatt Earp book." —Professor Richard Brown University of Oregon

Within my family there exists many hand me down stories of the west as they were pioneers opening up Texas with all the sweat, honor, ego, grit and agony of life on the frontier. Theirs was a place where justice often was in the hands of one who could stand and survive against threats both human and natural. Accordingly I have retained a favorable bias toward simple frontier justice and continue to read avidly about it for most of my 65 years. I only recently read and researched via the internet ... Another biographer once wrote that (paraphrase), "...a biographer often reveals almost as much about himself as he reveals about his subject."
Tefertiller's seems to prove that statement in abundance.
Buy it used and spend as little for it as possible and judge for yourself.

I have seen all the Movies/TV about Wyatt. Several years ago I read a similar book about Doc Hiliday and it treated them both truthfully. This book has the most detail and facts of any I have ever read. Very easy to read except for the small print. The book satifies the most cynnical of arguments about Wyatt.

I have been researching and reading about the Tombstone, AZ affair between the Earps, Doc Holliday, and the "Cowboys" for years. This book is an excellent means by which to understand the man who was Wyatt Earp, why and how he acted as he did, and what brought him to Tombstone. His relationships, quirks, amazing courage and sense of right and wrong are well described within the covers of this book. The author has captured the true image of the man. One of the two best books ever written on MR. EARP! ... Read More

This is a model biography--an account of an iconic figure who has attracted broad interest, who exemplifies key aspects of his times and continues to command affection and respect. The problem with Wyatt Earp, of course, is that the true story is now covered with legend, lie, half-truth and a long list of beliefs and impressions instilled by films and a television series.
The author peels back the myths and legends, studies the available facts and documentary evidence and delivers a detailed ... Read More
